Kahn Academy
With my experience with coding and graphics, making interactive graphics for the web using code seemed like it might be a good fit for me. Kahn Academy was one of the earliest sites I played with to get my feet wet in that area. Although I grew tired of it’s proprietary Processing.js approach, the samples I made still work, many are interactive and some of them are kind of fun.

I wanted to boost my skills with Javascript, and one of the better online learning sites I’ve found is edabit.com. They offer tutorials and coding challenges in several languages. Unfortunately I cannot link directly to my coding examples on that site, as they don’t allow others to see my work without registering and going through the exercises.

Meetup and Slack
Since 2014 I have belonged to several IT-related Meetup and Slack groups, for the purpose of sharpening my skills and learning about new technologies. I have attended dozens of seminars and events in Detroit and Ann Arbor, with groups like Detroit Javascript, SE Michigan JavaScript, Girl Develop It Detroit, and Detroit User Experience, among others.
